Post To anyone with a computer (yes, you)

*WARNING*
Lots of reading is involved.

http://forum.deviantart.com/403142

But if you haven't heard what microsoft is doing with the pallidan system (or itleast planning to) then read this, it may be a little long winded and you don't really need to see it all just get the just of it. Personally i think if it is ever incorporated the world will come under the will of microsoft and life as we know it will change. We've come to a time now also where we can't ignore this because nearly all of the developed world especially our generation has become reliant on computers. What do you all think you'll do if this happens?

Does anyone have a link to an official Web site (like Microsoft) that says the same stuff?

If true, then here is another reason NOT to look forward to waking up tomorrow : (

Something that original poster overlooked is the following "Palladium also will allow users to determine the personal information they reveal online because it allows the user to operate in different "realms" within their PC." You can still chose to be a big a pirate (in other words a theif) as your concious allows and still put your personal information in a location that is useless to everyone else.

Sounds like a damn good idea.

Am I the only one here who thinks this is a good idea? Its about time we had a way to encrypt data on our system to our machine so people can't steal it.

For those who see this as a bad thing, please take a moment and explain to me why you think its so bad? The only thing it prevents are people from encrypting their files and then distributing them that way. Get it? You just dont use that "realm" to put that code. So you thiefs (pirates) out there can still break the law to your hearts content.

It will never fly. Microsoft has no right and would be breaking the law by doing so. Not only that, do they really think that hardware manufactures will go through with this? People aren't going to buy something that invades their privacy that much. Also, that would make Microsoft a true monopoly and the DOJ wouldn't stand for that. After reading this I am upset with Microsoft, I have supported them in the past, but if this is their intentions I hope someone takes them out because they have no damn right to have access to the files on my computer. That is a total and complete invasion of privacy.

OK I read the article but I don't know enough about this sort of thing to totally understand some of the founding principles. So it appears to me that Microsoft has devised a way to encrypt all files on your hard drive. Any files that you download I.E. pirate(mp3's, warez, ect) that are not enctypted properly will not be allowed to run.

OK but if Microsoft uses this standardized enctyption code AND reveals the source code, what is the purpose in even enctypting the data?? Every hacker in the world will just read the source code, figure out how it enctypts the data, and work around it or use it.

It does seem impossible to think that Microsoft would even attempt to put a product out on the market that "requires" internet time in which it reports back to BIG BROTHER about what files are on your machine...

Anybody have a better understanding of what is going on???
