Soldier needs help with his JGC 98!!!

HELP!!! I don't want to end up spending tons of money for some electrical work on my JGC: we don't get paid that much as enlisted.

Anyway, here is the problem:
My JGC's brake lights don't work. The tail lights are fine by themselves and so are the little "ampoule" mini-lights next to them. I checked the fuses and they, too, are all OK. Turn signals/flashers work, back-up lights work. As a matter of fact, all the damn lights in and on the vehicle work!
BUT when I step on the brake---no brake lights!

I am hoping it's something I can fix myself before Monday. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hoo-ah.

I believe there is a "Brake Light Switch" mounted on or near the brake pedal. I would check that. You may have to remove a trim panel or insulator panel to get to it.

If that's the problem, it should be cheap & easy to fix.

Take Care,

Man---you were on the money! Thanks a million. It took a couple of hours but I got a new brake light switch, installed it, refused girlfriend's advise to take it to the shop, and now it's working.

It was satisfying...
