Soft top question

2006 Unlimited
Actually 2 questions:

My owners manual tells me if I have the sun rider open and going over 40MPH I should remove the rear window.....why?

Is it OK to drive with all the windows removed but the soft top still up?

Thanks
Mike

I dont have a unlimited or a sun rider top but the first thing that pops into my mind is the top would blow up like a balloon!!! Opening the rear window would allow air to flow through. Thats just a guess though. I drive with the top up on stormy looking days but all the windows out up to interstate speeds (75) and have never had a problem.

csparks78 sounds right....flow through rather than tear up your top with all that surface area exposed to the 70 mph breeze.

You could always experiment to see why

Funny that this subject has come up. I have been running it with the sunrider open and the rear window installed. I had no idea that the manufacturer recommended the rear window be out at speeds above 40MPH (should have read the owners manual huh? ). I drive the highway daily back and forth to work. The wind has not presented a problem at all with the rear window installed.

Hmmmm....aside from the fact that the manual is probably written very conservatively, I bet if someone was in the back and put their hand on the rear window they'd feel it to be very taught.
