Angry 1995 camaro

I have a 95 camaro, i just put a new thermostat and water pump in it. It still heats up too hot. the temperature rises to the red line and it doesnt cool its self back down. It also makes a chugging sound, it vibrates alittle like its gonna die. if anyone has any idea what it could be, please let me know because im just frustrated with it.

Re: 1995 camaro

The fan kick on for LT1's stock is like 224 for the first fan and like 245 for the second which is pretty close to overheating. I would suggest getting the fans programmed to kick on at a lower temp and get the car scanned for current codes and running conditions ,. You may have a bad O2 sensor that is making you run lean or rich in combination with another problem.

Re: 1995 camaro

My oil is fine and there is no sludge at all, ive looked at that because thats what i first thought it was. There is a good chance its my fan, but someone told me that that is just a back up that it isnt suppose to kick in all the time. Its a 3.4 sfi if that helps.

Re: 1995 camaro

I would check the fan first to make sure it is kicking on, if not it's probably the sensor to tell it to turn on. So you can either replace that or put ina toggle switch and control it manually. Otherwsie it could be air in the cooling system if you didn't bleed it out properly when you did the waterpump.
