infinity reference 1001t crackling sound

i just bought these reference 1001t tweeters to replace the blown tweeters in my mustang. i hooked it all up and installed the passive crossovers and the left side tweeter crackles like crazy when there is any sign of bass i took it out checked all the connections and resoldered but still dose it. the right side is fine :P it crackles at about 3/4 volume but what confuses me even more is after about 10 min of playing you can turn it up and it'l stop crackling. but even when its not crackling and i really turn it up i can smell something bah i got a problem it might be a faulty passive crossover. thats my only guess. any other suggestions or comments would be appreciated tho thanx

try swapping the crossover to see if the problem follows the crossover, also be careful, you don't want to keep blowing speakers
