Looks like a superb kit. Bores me to tears, but they did a nice job on it. I hope people like 'em. Of all the cool/quirky 70's stuff that could have been tooled, this one just makes me think they're a bit

If they take the tooling and do a Malibu, Grand Am, Grand Prix, or 442 then we can talk about me buying/building one

I had a '78 Grand Am coupe...great car-looked nice and handled superbly, and was fairly rare. Would love to build a model of it.

I agree 100%. Their kits looks stellar, too bad I'm never quite exactly interested in the prototype. I did my part, though, and bought the LeFrance Pumper. That kit is amazing! Trumpeter has got their act together. If they start releasing kits faster, the other companies will have a problem.

But for its lowrider potential, I think the subject is almost comically dull. Nevertheless, I'll be picking up one, maybe two, just for the novelty in seeing a cutting-edge kit of such an uninspired car.

Wow. That nova coupe looks hot !!! And these kits look like they have better quality that mongram or revell. Are they reputable? I doubt they are avaliable in canada.

Their design is top-notch, and after a brief hiccup in the chrome in their first run of the '60 Pontiacs, their processing and quality has been very competitive.

They're not quite Tamiya-clean as far as sink marks and parting lines go - in fact, the most recent Revell body shells beat them in this regard. Trumpeter is still working out some accuracy kinks; the '60 Pontiac was notably off in some areas, and while the Nova's a bit less so, it's still not as accurate as it could be (particularly the convertible with its mile-high windshield). The ALF fire engine skips odd things like interior side panels and tie rods for the front suspension, but is otherwise a dazzling piece.

They're a bit on the pricey side, but I don't see why they shouldn't be available in Canada. If you don't mind waiting a bit, you might try ordering one online.

I'll be giving a pretty detailed report once I get mine.

looks pretty cool. Ive been looking for that model for years. I found a resin kit like 7 yrs ago that i started working on until an ex came along and took all my free time. Im back on the project and hopefully will finish it this time. By the way, does anyone know if the chassis with pre-drilled holes for mounting motors to simulate hydrolics made by pegasus hobbies would fit on this model? I dont think i'd dare to cut into a resin chassis so i thought about buying the chassis pegasus makes for the 64 Impala, and maybe cut off the front and rear corners to fit onto the Monte Carlo, if need be. And another thing, does this kit sell in the US? Im not familiar with the manufacturer.

Trumpeter's a Chinese manufacturer relatively new to the automotive scene; they've made their bones as a military kit manufacturer. But yes, the kits are available stateside - you might try online auction sites if you can't find one at the local hobby shop.

This sucker will probably retail around 30-35 bucks - but on the other hand, you'll get detail unseen before in a subject from this era.

Since the old MPC '80 kit is crap underneath, you might like it better for the Pegasus conversion - AMT's last reissue of that kit can still be found here and there, and the frame detail is so sweet on the Trumpeter kit, you might find it hard to toss it all away (unless you got an El Camino that wants it - ).

On the other hand, if it's gotta be a '78, this is the only game in town, and it's currently available.
