IAT sensor mod
Well.......read sum stuff about the IAT sensor mod. I plugged in a resistor into the IAT sensor (its that long cylinder thing on the intake manifold next to the throttle body right?), and the engine ran like crap. Do I need higher octane? Am i doing it right? Did i even plug it into the right sensor??? I dont even know what that sensor is supposed to look like haha. Any help appreciated.

Re: IAT sensor mod
do a search, those things are junk. if you don't know if you hooked it up right; remove it, buy or download a service manual and find the right place to hook it up (if you're set on doing it). there's is NOTHING that cheap that's going to give you any real performance, it's a gimick to steal $ from people who don't know any better.

Re: IAT sensor mod
If you actually spent money on that mod then you didn't search around here enough. I know that recently that topic has been discussed. Basically the story in a nutshell is that just because you pump more fuel into your engine, doesn't mean that you will see HP increases, especially if you are stock. That mod forces the ecu to use a FOT (full open throttle) fuel map rather than a more economic one to save gas thus forcing more gas into the engine.

Re: IAT sensor mod
Ok, I bought one of those ebay deals just to see if it was all it was cracked up to be. Made a little cicuit so I could switch from regular to "resisted." To put it simply, when it was engaged, the car ran like crap. It felt like my a/c was on. Point: They suck. Case closed.

Re: IAT sensor mod
Like I said, all it does is force the ECU to run WOT maps. It's only good for putting your toes in the TB and your ecu swaps to the WOT map when you do that anyway so the resistor is useless. Sorry you wasted your money.

Re: IAT sensor mod
Well.....atleast i only wasted a buck and have a bunch of random resistors (100 - 1K ohm) lying around........jeez, some people swear by this mod on their car mod pages.....guess its just to attract hits to get them money or something.

Re: IAT sensor mod
People who swear by it probably added it after they moddified lots of other things. If you made lots of mods and didn't get your ecu moddified to accomidate then running on WOT maps would put those mods to use. That's where the sellers get that you can see up to a 20 hp increase by adding it. It's not good for use on stock engines because they aren't made to use all that fuel on normal use.

Re: IAT sensor mod
You are right indeed. With a stock setup (near stock setup for me, only an intake haha) the engine cannot utilize the extra fuel.....it just cannot take avantage of the fuel and timing. With more mods, the increased fuel demands and timing advances can be achieved with this mod, therefore this mod is just a complementary for the other majour mods.

Re: IAT sensor mod
Guess you're pretty tired of seeing this ebay crap posted all the time. I don't blame you. Thanks for pointing out what I missed.
