sputtering and missing

I HAVE A 86 S10 BLAZER 2.8 LITRE V6 AND ITS MISSING ALOT BUT NOT ALL THE TIME WHEN I CRANK IT SOMETIMES IT SPITTS AND SPUTTERS BUT OTHER TIMES IT RUNS FINE I'M THINKIN ITS THE FUEL FILTER BUT I CAN'T FIND IT OR I WOULD CHANGE IT BUT IF ANYONE HAS A BETTER SOLUTION WRITE BACK THANKS
