new tranny

My tranny on my '91 chevy truck (350 w/700r4 tranny) is leaking from the front input shaft area, and also making a kinda grinding noise when I let off the pedal(sounds like its coming from inside the tranny) , and now when I push on the pedal slightly. also this tranny has been rebuild twice..the last one bout 3.5 years a go..is this problem fixable or should I just get a new one...Where is a good place to get a new one..my buddy said the dealership, cuz they warranty...thx for ur replies.

Re: new tranny

The gm warranty had gotten much better in the last few years and the difference in price is not great. The only down fall to buying a reman from the dealer is you cannot have it built to your specs. If you are using the truck to pull or off-roading at all I would recomend having one built, with a shift kit, better clutches and steels, and corvette servos. If it is just a daily driver then the gm reman, I think will be a better option.

Re: new tranny

If you want better,go with a Jasper and Jasper is cheaper than GM on price of the transmission.Jasper does improvements by their R&D people.Their warranty is better and you can take it to any place that is a Jasper dealer for warranty work with no problems.Jasper even pays for the labor if there is any warranty work

Re: new tranny

I agree with what everyone else said, get one built. The 700R4 is not that good of a trans when it comes to taking abuse stock, they overheat way too fast. I have had bad expierences with that same trans in the past on my full size jimmy. After getting one built with better clutches, a shift kit, and an external cooler i did not have problems again, well except for breaking the 4:10 gears because the shift kit would hit so hard in second under WOT that it would chirp the 33 12.50's on dry pavement lol

Re: new tranny

Any transmission shop should be able to build the tranny any way that you want.
