Few tranny issues

I recently purchased an auto 98 3.2L V6 2WD with 151,000 miles on the odo. The previous owner has EVERY service receipt. This is not an exaggeration. He was the original owner. He even gave me the original window sticker. He did mention a few tranny issues. My problems are:

1-Hard shift from 2 to 3. Very noticeable on an incline. Also, when I am coming to a stop I can feel the downshifting. I will clean the range sensor as recommened here.
2-A clunk sometimes when coming to a stop or taking off. I will grease the yolk as suggested here.
3-When I start the car in the morning and shift into reverse, it takes 3 seconds for the gear to engage. There is also a high pitch squeal for about 5-7 secs. Doesn’t happen when the car is warm,
4- From neutral to drive, there is a hard kick when engaging.
5-I know I should feel a slight engagement when I put it into gear but I seem to really feel it in all gears.

The previous owner had a tranny and read diff change about 3,000 miles ago. He has been doing this at regular intervals according to the records.
I did notice he has taken the truck to dealer to get a “R&R drive shaft and service with special grease” performed. That sounds like he got the yolk greased? Am I wrong? The “customer states” section specifically states the clunk during stop and acceleration. The dealer stated “drive shaft splines dry.”

Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. I’m more of a Honda/Acura guy..lol.

Re: Few tranny issues

1. Start with the range sensor, and then you may want to check the fluid level. If it has been more then 25k since the alst fluid swap you may think about doing that too. The downshifting feeling is normal (it's call grade logic).

2.correct.

3. doesn't sond good, is it a belt slipping?

4. could be due to the slip yolk.

I'm also one of them crazy owners with every recipt. I document it all in a notebook and staple the recipt to page. The last few cars I've sold, that has been a big selling factor of the car.

Re: Few tranny issues

His record keeping is one of the reasons I bought the Rodeo. He was honest and upfront about everything.

My friends are suggesting I take it to Aamco or Cottsman, but I've head nothing but bad things about those two. Damn that Terry Bradshaw!
