Rodeo SAS on 44's

I saw this and thought you guys may be interested. I can't imagine how the auto tranny is gonna hold up pushing 44's. Definately the meanest rodeo I have seen, I actually don't see many lifted at all let alone SAS.

Hey Todd, you never came back and said what happened with yourself & the rig. If I remember correctly, you were involved in an accident??

That's a bit tooo much lift for my taste, but NICE rig.

The auto's probably doing just fine, it doesn't see the daily grind of a normal every day vehicle. And sometimes I think, as long as normal service is followed and leaks do not go unattended to, too many people under-estimate these tranny's. I don't see any more failures in the 4L30-E then I see in the 4L60, or any other common tranny - as long as routine service is performed and the vehicle is not aggressively abused by constant quick WOT.

Towing, lifts, bigger tires, etc definitely don't help in the longetivity; but I haven't experienced any adverse effects - as of yet, with running bigger tires and towing for nearly 9yrs of it's life.

Most failures that I'm hearing/seeing of are coming from those that didn't perform service soon enough and/or had a leak that they chose to ignore.

Rodeo was considered a total loss with 6K in damage to the rear end. Some salvage yard got a sweet deal since I had just done major maintinence (timing belt, tensioner, water pump, all new belts and hoses) a month earlier and front end/engine was not touched in accident. I walked away with back injury but could have been a fatality. The rodeo really impressed me with how well it handled getting hit from behind by someone going 100 mph.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. It's sad how we bust our butts to keep all of our ducks in a row, i.e. maintenance physically as well as mechanically, just to have an idiot rune it all for us.

Hope your back's healing up good. If you would have been in a car, I'd hate to think what would have been.

What kind of ride did you end up with??

My wife gave me her Toyota Tacoma doublecab and we bought her a Lexus ES330. The Tacoma is a really good truck, I hope to have as good of luck with is as I did the Rodeo. But like anything else I think its about how you take care of it.
