strange warning light 2001 beetle

Can anyone help? I just had a orange/yellow warning light pop up on the dash of my 2001 bug, that looks like a sort of rectangle box shape with a lightening bolt over it................ can anyone tell me what that means? Thanks!!!

Re: strange warning light 2001 beetle

I don't have any specific experience on the Beetle, but that sounds like a voltage or charging warning. Do you have gauges or "idiot" lights for all of your engine parameters? Maybe you should get your alternator/battery checked. Some of the VW experts could probably help on this one.
Good Luck.

I believe thats the asr light. You problably have codes stored in your brake control module, they need to be read out.
