Quote me for a new ECU?
Just got the news for my problem that it is obviously the ECU that is causing it, if I run pass over 3,000 RPM the engine will drop at 1,000 RPM and then it just stay there, so my question is how much the ECU will cost me? and also does it just plug n'play? or I have to re-program it? when I got the new ECU?. 1992 V6, 4x4 automatic!.

Re: Quote me for a new ECU?
It's rare that the ECU "fails" so make SURE it is the source of your problem(s)! Usually intermittent wiring and it would be a huge disappointment to spend the money on a new ECU and have do the same thing. Plus you cant return it once it's been plugged in.
They are spendy little boxes! New from Toyota they are $803.00 Make sure the replacement is EXACTLY the same as what's installed now. Match your numbers! There are many different ECUs that look alike for this year. I found one on ebay, lucked out though! The seller had just put up the number and said he didn't know what it was for. So if you "search" for one on the internet also search for the just the number too. Wrecking yards will run approximately half price of new, IF they have one. No reprogramming for this one. Good luck |

Re: Quote me for a new ECU?
Thanks 4wheel, today I just checked that it maybe possibility that it is wiring issued cause when the ECU was connected everything from the dash were not operating in normal condition, the light from the speed-o-meter were not on, have speaker wiring problem when you try to connect and will not even work and all tought that it was the ECU is causing it but today I took out the ECU and it is still diong the same situation, and another questing does the wiring cause the engine to fail completely? for instance if I try to run it pass over 3k rpm the engine will loose power and will not run, I tought that was ECU but I'll try to remedy the wire first if that help, thanks for the price for the ECU and the tip for the serial #, I never tought that it eventually cost that much, I was thinking around the $300's.

Re: Quote me for a new ECU?
You should get the "REAL" schematics from Toyota. I have found grave errors in the after market manuals when it comes to the schematics.
Fix what was broke originally with the repair that rendered the electrical system less than functional, my favorite saying applies here: "It worked until I fixed it!" Good luck |
