99 GC cuts off while driving

Recently my 99 6cyl has begun to intermittantly cut off while driving. No spitting, no sputtering, no advance notice, just dies. I notice it because I loose the power steering. I can shift to neutral, cycle the key, restart it and continue on. No check engine light is set. I do notice that when I restart the gas gage is on empty and the low gas light is on. As I think back it does seem to happen when I reach approx. 1/4 tank of gas.
I know, keep it above 1/4. But who can afford to? LOL. Seriously, do I have a pump going out? If so, how hard is it to replace?

Re: 99 GC cuts off while driving

get ready to buy a new computer for it. my 97 was doing the same thing and it would also die in the mornings during warm up I went through every sensor and finally decided to wait until it died and wouldn't start and one day it did. $200 for a computer from Napa fixed it. You might also want to replace the gas cap, I just done mine because of a ded spot when I would make a left turn and so far it seems to have helped it.
