location of engine block coolant drains?
I have a 2000 suburban, 4wd, 1500 series v-8 . I want to drain my coolant and replace it. I can't seem to find the drain plugs in the engine block. I've looked and looked. Does anyone know where they are? My Haynes manual says there are two, one on each side, yet nothing looks even remotely like what is pictured in the Haynes manual. Help!
Thanks Jon California |

Re: location of engine block coolant drains?
they are very inconspicuous, they are the same color as the block and probably less than a half inch head to the plug, look just above the oil pan on either side about in the center of the block. good luck

Re: location of engine block coolant drains?
elcome to your first post on AF
About a 1 or 2 inches above the oil pan in center of block on each side. On side may have a knock senser screwed into the drain plug hole. They and or knock sensor are a pain to get to and remove It works better just to pull a hose someplace and flush it all out. Good Luck MT MT
