what tire?

I have an 04 chevy extended cab with about 28,000 miles on it. The tires are wrangler gt's. I have about 5,000 - 8,000 miles left on the tires (alot of in town driving - I rotate them every other oil change) and I was wondering what is a good replacement tire. I want a good looking tire with white letters. Someone suggested the firestone destination. That tire is on one of our shop truck and I was not impressed with the ride. I was also that the higher the ply, the better the wear but the ride is not that great. I would like both the ride and wear. Am I asking too much/ Any suggestions

Re: what tire?

The higher the ply # is the rougher the ride. You didn't say if your truck is 2x4 or 4x4 and if you need a tire that is a all-train, a street tire, if you pull a trailer or haul heavy stuff. If you want a tire that rides good look at either a B or a C load raiting (on truck tires).

Re: what tire?

It's a 2 wheel drive. I do not pull anything and nothing heavy in the bed. It is driven town and highway.

Re: what tire?

I agree, Michelin LTX M/S, you can't go wrong with them. I've had most brands in the past and these are by far the best. Look good, good traction in all conditions and they run real quiet, plus they last a long time.

Re: what tire?

I just bought a set of bridgestone dueler revo's and I really like the ride, traction and very little road noise. I found them on tire rack then went to discount tire and the matched the price and then beat it by 10%. so if you have a discount tire shop near where you live they say they will compete with on-line.

Agreed. I put alot of these on and my dad also just put these on and I have never heard a bad thing about them. A little pricey but you definatly dont want to go cheap with tires.

I have Lontrail LT T/A's on mine and I like them however they are a little loud.

Re: what tire?

One of my best friends has the Michelin's on her Tahoe. She has 50K miles on them and they still have at least 50% left. She drives like a bat out of hell too.

Re: what tire?

Every vehicle I have ever put Michelins on, the tires have lasted and performed very well.

Re: what tire?

I have always liked BFG's I have put over 70K miles on everyone of them, and never had any defects and they have the cool solid white lettering. However the Michelin's I had on my 93 Silverado where pretty good, lasted pretty long

Re: what tire?

I've always had good luck with the UniRoyal Laredo tires as far as driving on the pavement goes.
