Re: DSMlink
well, assuming your have a socketed 95 Eprom ecu, with the Dsmlink chipset installed you just unhook your old ECU and replace it with the 95 ECU. From their It depends on what cables your using to go Online with to the ECU. Are your running a dirrect serial cable to your laptop or PDA device? Or are you running a Serial-to-Usb adaptor cable?
Their is a list of supporting USB adapter cables on the Dsmlink forum. I had a problem connecting my USB adaptor, I had to go into the Options, and change my COM PORT to COM4. |

Re: DSMlink
Is your dsmlink cable db9? thats a dumb question to ask i guess lol since thats the way they come. I got a socket that goes from db9 to usb from walmart for $25. The older computers use db9 but not newer ones. Newer ones use USB for everything.
I have not used my dsmlink yet since my car is still apart when i purchased dsmlink 3 months ago,but it goes from odb2 adapter to db9 cable but had to get a adapter that went from db9 to usb like i said.

Re: DSMlink
I have a laptop without serial ports so i used a serial to usb, if you use one you have to install the software for it. Thaen go to control panel ->sytem ->hardware (tab) ->defice manager. Then go to ports (comm an lpt) click that and see what comm port the signal is coming from the go to dsmlink and click edit -> options ->config and make sure the correct com port is selected. Hope that helps.

Re: DSMlink
Newer laptops do still come with serial ports, if they are "business class" laptops. Engineers will always need serial ports to talk to automation systems. But they're usually a little nastier and cost more money.
