1993 Sable location of fuel sensor

Not a Sable owner, but dad is. Asked me to hop on and see if anyone can help. Mechanic says fuel sensor needs replacing. Wants $560. Can this be a DIY solution? Can anyone tell me the location of the fuel sensor?

Thanks

Not sure of what part you are referring to. What does the fuel sensor do?

Re: 1993 Sable location of fuel sensor

Is the gauge reading not reflecting the actual level of the fuel?

It's probably the fuel sending unit the mechanic is referring to. The part itself is probably around $150 more or less. Might want to replace the fuel pump while at it. I've replaced fuel pump and fuel sending unit a couple of times. Took me about 2 days on the weekend by myself. It includes dropping the fuel tank (empty of course). Just disconnect the fuel filter and put a gas can to have the fuel pump pump the gas out.

My suggestion. Call a friend or somebody. You will find folks that can replace your fuel pump, fuel sending unit at a cheaper price probably $100 or so. Just buy your fuel pump and fuel sending unit.
