Exclamation 97 1.4 Clio Starting Problems

I changed my battery two weeks ago, as it died.

The car worked fine but recently my car has problems starting up. I can start it but it takes longer than it should and sounds like the battery is dead. I have to keep at it.

Ive had the AA out and took it to a garage they said my battery and alternator are fine. The advice I have been given is to slightly tap my excel as I turn my key, but this does not help.

Also my imobiliser light flashes while I drive now

Once I have got my car started its pritty much fine all day starting.
Its just when I leave it overnight or idel too long.

I dont under stand you say it sounds as if the batry is dead, but you have to keep at it
If the battery is dead the car will not "turn over" ie it will not "keep at it" , there will be nothing, no turning over. no nothing!!!!

If the imobiliser light is flashing the car will not start, not ever, never, not start, not go, not ever.

the light must go out

This is a problem with either the impbiliser sensor on the iginition switch barrrel, or more likley the iginition key itself.

You will probably need to get a new key from Renault and have it coded to suit your car, (Avoid second hand keys as they cant be recoded)
