Transmisson problem

I have a 1991 Eagel Talon Tsi automatic, new engine with a 16g small turbo, and tubular manifold, pacesetter cat back exhaust K&N filters. when i get on the interstate the car gets going but when it trys to shift up, it over revs as if it wants to down shift instead, then i have to let of the gas and let the rpms go back down and then it shifts into gear, Does any body know what the problem could be?

Over rev as in it actually redlines? Possibly because your transmission is worn down and it wont engage properly until you let off the gas and give it time to engage. My buddie had a probalem with his Talon automatic.. ocassionally, his transmission would stay in its 1st gear and refuse to shift until he put into neutral and let the transmission catch up. Do you have any more info? Does this only happen when you give it WOT or something?

no i don't let the car reach the redline but it gets very close to it, and what do you mean by WOT? but i really don't have any more informatin then what i posted, i was told by a friend that it could be a sensor but what sensor is it if it is a sensor?

WOT = Wide Open Throttle aka flooring the gas pedal. How long have you had your car? If I were you, I'd keep it floored and see if it even goes to redline and shifts or not. Autos redline at 6500 rpms, correct? Let it go to 6600-6700 rpm. I believe it should shift at around 6100ish rpm if you keep the gas pedal down. Entering a higher speeds, the automatics do tend to rev quickly (experience in the 420A not 4G63).

So, just keep it floored until it actually does hit redline. It will shift. I see no reason why not, especially if it drives fine during regular driving scenerios. But again, how long have you had your car for?

When was the last time a filter and fluid change was done? Alot of times people will find that a transmission tune-up will solve alot of small shifting problems.

I just put a new engine in the car so every filter in the engine bay as been replaced IE: transmission, gas, oil.

i replaced all the filters when replaced the old engine so every filter in the engine bay is new
