Cooling fan goes on when engine is turned off

1992 Honda accord does not overheat but when the engine has been running and then when it is turned off, the cooling fan goes on for 5 minutes? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This happens in every season, warm or cool temp. The temperature gauge always reads normal.

My friends gsr does it, it think about 90% of hondas do it they get a temp reading that tells them to turn on your cars ambient heat sitting still is higher than when driving so the fan is told to turn on.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

yea my car does the exact same thing, but u have to realize taht once you shut off your car there is no more air flowin past the radiator for cooling and thats probably when the engine bay get's the hottest and so the fan kicks in until the temp is low enough....makes sense

Look under the hood on the core support theres a wearning label for this that says it can run for up to 15 min even after the car is turned off. I noticed when i was helping my frind change the trans in his GSR i thought it was funny.
