Exhaust silcencer really work? Where can I get one?

I have a Magnaflow exhaust and looking to get a silencer for it. Now that I have heard some automatics (from outside the car when they ride by) with exhausts the sound just makes me want to puke. Anyhow, where can I get a silencer for my exhaust and how effective are they?

Thanks

I heard people say silencers do hardly anything, but they do. I have a tanabe rm and the silencer really takes away the sound, like 75-80% of it. As for getting one, I dont know, mine came with it.

Exactly how and where do you install an exhaust silencer? Can you figure out how to do it by yourself?

I used to have a Weapon R muffler on my old civic. It had a small hole on the bottom of the exhaust. The silencer is actually a smaller pipe that fits into your aftermarket exhaust. On the silencer there is a threaded hole and a small screw. You basically line up the holes on the silencer and your exhaust and thread the screw through both of them. It is very easy to do yourself and YES IT WORKS! At least that is how it worked on my old car. As far as I know there are not "universal" silencers that you can buy. Your best bet is to call the company you bought your exhaust from whether it be Greddy, Apexi, DC Sports, Tanabe, or whatever and ask what kind if they have a silencer for your exhaust.
