This was sooooo much fun!

I was up out of town for a bit doing some errands for work (not the fun part cause weekends are my time off) After taking some pictures of a house for some insurance purposes I get to a red lightand my g/f says to me "OHH look a charger."
I look and its a greyish-blue charger r/t. "It's just an R/T nothing major" I simply reply. I did not mean it in a cocky way just saying I like the SRT-8's alot more.. I had no intention of running it untill I remembered last night I said I wanted to see how I would do against one. I took a look at the driver and it was a guy not much older than 25 so I figured he'd want to run if I baited him.

I start rocking the car back and forth to show him I'm ready to launch the car, Guess it worked, cause as soon as the light went green he shot off. I chirped my tires as I went into 2nd and in third I passed him putting about 1/2 a car on him. Now I won, I know I won cause he wasnt gaining any ground as I shifted into 4th, but I had enough of messing with the guy and decided to pretty much demolish him. Flipping my switch on, which increased my boost from holding 9.5 to now holding 15 pounds, I was pushed back into my seat and put my lead from 1/2 a car to 3.

I now shifted into 5th and began to slow down, this guy was beat. Or so I thought. He went WOT again and matched my speed, I down shifted back into 4th (with my switch still on) and slammed on the gas. My boost peaked at 19 (used to be 17 ) and held back down to 15 where again I put 3 cars on him. I was done, I didnt want to shrink his ego anymore than I had so I merged infront of him to take my exit to the right.

Re: This was sooooo much fun!

Good kill. I don't think that much of the Charger R/T's. They just don't seem like they have 350hp, probably cause they don't (Dyno around 260whp).

Time for some track times with your ride. I want to see what your car will run.

^ I second that. we need track times badly.

I say we give him 4 weeks to get us his slip or we ban him.

Re: This was sooooo much fun!

I'll be down there in September through December. I'll be going through IT training in the Navy. Dunno if i'll be able to bring my car though

No matter, it'll either be traded or turboed by next year.

In "stock mode" i'm expecting to do a 15.2 to 14.8 With the switch on max, I'm not doing the one in between cause it's really pointless since all it really does is spool much quicker and maybe 1 more pound of boost, I'm expecting somewhere between the low 14's to the mid 13's. Can't give you an exact estimate cause i saw a guy who had only this mod run a 13.6 and another who had this mod ran a 13.8. But either way I'm really curious about it.

oh and ls1 make sure you let us know when exactly maybe we can go to the tracks or something if your training allows it.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

The R/T's have 340 HP. The extra 10 horses goes to the Charger Daytona and Charger R/T with road/track performance group..even still its just 10 horses, and to hear that they dyno at 260whp is dissapointing. DCX was definitely a bit too optimistic with the HP claims.

Car & Driver did test a Charger R/T with Road/Track performance group last year and it hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and did the 1/4 in 14.2 @ 101. That's pretty impressive for a car that weighs 4000+ lbs.

if it does run a 14.2 and I beat it by 3 cars that makes me wonder....

Re: This was sooooo much fun!

I'm sorry, did you say that you might pull a 15.2 and with your magic switch you could be as low as 13.6? Are you guys all believing that this guys super jetta is pulling GTO times just by switiching on his power boost? I know people that completly change the internals of an engine or add a turbo and they don't pull a 1.6 second better time down the quarter mile. BS has been called, back it up soon buddy...

Yeah I dunno about going from a 15.2 to a 13.6.... I'd think those cars would be much more popular if they could drop over a second and a half for about 10 bucks.....

But hey, if he can do it, more power to him!
