fuel economy

I was just wondering, how many miles do you guys get on a full tank of gas for your turbo dsm's, because i'm only getting like 175 miles, is this normal? Could it be my fuel pump? This mileage is without using ac and driving
normally(not smashing on the gas pedal at all). I'm on stock boost too!!

My current mods are:

k/n filter
2.5 turbo back
rewired 190 fuel pump
6 bolt swap
uicp

Re: fuel economy

Ok first of all, you don't measure your gas mileage based only on how many miles your gas gauge says you get on a tank. Fill up, set your trip odometer, drive it until you get really low, then fill up again. See how many gallons you actually put in, and divide the miles by that number. Get us a real number, like "25 mpg", not "175 miles on a tank".

The gas gauge in DSM's sucks, so you need to do it that way to find your actual mileage. It's deceiving because it usually says your "low" when in reality you have a good 3-4 gallons when you hit E.

Re: fuel economy

Good advice, top off, measure mileage, and top off again. Prefereably on the same pump. I used to get over 30 mpg all highway on the 2g running down into the 12s, and I got 28 mpg on the way to the shootout where I was running high 11s at the time, and the same mileage coming back. After the stroker and SMIM and other high rpm mods it did drop to the low 20s however.

When the car was getting a little over 30 mpg I could get as much as 450 miles to the tank if I ran it down to the fumes. Try that shit at your own risk though, I typically have a few gallons of race gas in a jub with me so I can push it a little further than typical wisdom would allow.
