I would take it somewhere and have it professionally done, unless you know exactly what you're doing I wouldn't suggest it, there are just too many things to go wrong.

If you have to ask, then you should get it professionally done. There are a million and one ways you can screw up, and some of those ways will fuck your car up pretty good.

Re: car alarms are they hard?

Search under my name and "install alarm" or something like that. There is a website that sells alarms with the same features as the most expensive ones available for $150-$250, and they give you live tech support and all the parts, vehicle specific wiring diagrams, etc to easily (according to them) install it yourself. I can't speak from personal experience though since I'm still poor , but I have talked to them and they seem nice and helpful.

Edit: Here I found it for you. http://www.startbyremote.com/ The website address changes by what part of the site you're one so it's kind of confusing. And their site layout sucks a fat one too. But other than that

Re: car alarms are they hard?

Nayr gave some pretty good info, but I would still get it professionally done. Get the Viper 791XV pager alarm with both prox sensor and motion detector modules. The alarm has ridiculously high range, you'll be amazed. The remote guzzles batteries though...you'll go through one AAA every 3 weeks. Costco

If you get some good rechargable batteries they will last 10 times longer or more. That's why you only see advertisements for non-rechargable batts; They cost much more overall and perform far worse. Take the alkaline batts that came in my digital camera. They lasted about 2 hours and then I had to throw them away. So I went online (I'll post the site later) and ordered some 2500mAh AA's and they last for days of continuous use. And you can recharge them 1000 times or more. And if you get a really good charger, you should be able to recharge them forever.

edit: cant find the link but they were Powerex batteries and charger from here: http://www.thomas-distributing.com/index.htm. It was like $30 or $40. But apparently the Energizer 2300 rechargables are slightly better.
