Drums To Rotors ...

I'm swapping the drums to Rotors. I went to the junk yard, Got the Spindals with the whole setup. I know ill have to get the Emergency brake cables, and a Lil Aluminum block (that restricts the brake pressure, ex. so when i hit the brakes the back end doesnt lockup). Basically ill be undertaking this project by myself, just wanted to know if anyone has any good advice on tackling the problem.

Re: Drums To Rotors ...

Hmm. something you can try is jacking up the back of the car and have someone step on the brake after you spin the back wheel to see if it's stops , indicating that it's getting pressure. If it does stop , and you have the break lines all bleed properly , it could be normal..

Re: Drums To Rotors ...

Include the aluminum block as part of your upgrade project. It is a proportioning valve. Definition: Hydraulic control designed to stop the rear wheels from locking up (rear wheels become "light" under heavy braking and therefore more likely to skid). http://autorepair.about.com/library/.../bldef-607.htm

There is also proportioning built into the brake master cylinder. Make sure that the master cylinders for both systems are the same part #. Replace complete brake lines without modification to avoid additional possibilities for a hydraulic fluid leak, or an unfortunate liability issue.
