Buying 92 Sentra - No start
Let's start by saying this is a dealership and the wholesalers are going to be in next weekend unless I take it off their hands for a bit more than the wholesalers will pay.
That being said 92 Sentra Auto 89,000 MILES!!!!! 1.6L Black badly faded paint. Old women owned it and changed oil twice a year. 3000 Miles Now the good - The interior is immaculant Engine wasn't steam cleaned and no valve cover leak, nothing in the spark plug holes, nothing under car, etc. Now the problem.. No start.. I pulled one of the plugs and put it to ground. Spark SEEMED to be weak, however the boot has a good inch between where the wire ends and the end of the plug. Good spark coming from coil You can hear the fuel pump kick on and by listening it sounds like it has good compression and sounds even across all cylinders. They say they want $2000, but I'm thinking about offering $1300 cash. 1.6 good enignes??? Common problems??? Common no start problems??? Parts cheap or expensive?? |

Re: Buying 92 Sentra - No start
Parts seem incredibly cheap for this engine. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy it..
I've also read that $75 Ignition control modules go bad. If those go bad is there usually good spark coming from the coil weak spark to the plugs??? What's a good price for this??? |

Re: Buying 92 Sentra - No start
back in 92 they had a fuel pump recall. It is possible you may have a bad fuel pump .
I would start by checking fuel pressure, and see if it has any codes. I could think of a few other things , but start there first , and feel free to get back to me.. gl ..

Re: Buying 92 Sentra - No start
$2000 grand for a non-running 92 is outrageous, and 1300 seems high too, unless it's your cost of living thats making it so pricey. 3 Years ago I bought a 92 for $900 Cash, 90,000 miles, 5 speed, great interior, a decent paint job but rust, and a bad exhaust. 250 got it a tune up and a whole new exhaust (except for headers). This past summer for 1900 cash I bought a 95 with a newer engine and tranny, both with only 85-95k, new clutch and water pump, good interior, and relatively new paint job (purple/blue, maybe thats why its so cheap
). Again both were from private sellers but both ran great.

Re: Buying 92 Sentra - No start
I saw the post about the fuel pump. If they had a recall and where never replaced on the recall could someone go and get it replaced for free. Or has too much time passed.

you should also check out the starter and the battery. i see this problem everyday at my work, autozone. check those out and if its ok move on to the coil or distributor pretty much everything that has to do with ignition. |
