Re: Head Unit Impedance

It says in the manual if you dont have the manual you can get it off the net. Usually its 4-8ohms. But some of the older factory car speakers have some off the wall impendances, 6x9's in my bazer were 10ohm.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: Head Unit Impedance

what do you plan on doing? and with what equipment?

generally you just want to keep your head unit at 4 ohms or higher.

Re: Head Unit Impedance

Yes a crossover would be a good idea, let alone putting more speakers on the HU isnt the greatest idea considering they dont put out alot of power as it is.

just tweeters?
why?

yes you'd need a highpass for them or they'd last about 5 seconds

Re: Head Unit Impedance

Earthquake isn't a very well respected brand...

I personally wouldn't power component speakers with my head unit. Even if it's cheap ones like earthquake. They are reliable, you can rely on them to suck (especially off a HU). It sounds like you want to have a system that will sound nice. Just get yourself a decent 4 channel amp and stop trying to do it with only a HU.

Their's a very wide range between products, double check with your manufacturer.
