1993 Taurus GL - Check Engine Light WON'T come on
I am looking to purchase a '93 with the 3.0L engine. Car seems to run great. Took it to the emissions test center, and they wouldn't even start the test because the check-engine light didn't turn on at all when the car was first started (ie: self-diagnostic for the light?).
I understand that the bulb itself may be out, but is there a fuse that directly controls the light? I'd prefer to start with the simpler things

you dont get much more simple than a burned out light bulb :-p
Do any of the other dash lights fail to work? If not then check the EEC fuse....think go a buy light bulb because in the time it took you to change those two fuses you could have already changed the bulb. |

I appreciate that - no other lights are out. Didn't want to have to take apart the ins. panel but I'll give it a try

Power to the MIL is provided by the same fuse that provides power to the fuel guage, anti-slosh module, Airbag light, and low fuel light. If any of those work, you know the fuse is good. Ground to illuminate the MIL is provided by the PCM and is connected to the data link connector, (tan/red wire).
