WIP: '98 Safari Impreza WRC

Tamiya kit, will be built OOB. Imex 1:18 case base used for "safari" theme diorama. It is just brown ballast and will have some brown grass throughit it too. I might take the figures from my Rally of Great Britian and use them in this one.

Only two pictures because I just started.

Re: WIP: '98 Safari Impreza WRC

The diorama will be pretty basic. Just a fairly flat piece with some brush and rocks.

Tonight I got the body, spoiler and rims primered. Tamiya made a brilliant decision and decided to mold all the body parts in blue. There are a few small parts that I need to sand down because hair got on the primer as it dried.

As you can see, the base isn't much bigger than the model, but the angle of the Scooby will look better than it being straight on there. The base needs a few spots of touch up with the ballast and then it needs to be sealed, but I have to find my spray nozzle that works.

Silver base coat. Needs to be sanded and possibly reapplied. Alot of orange peel on it.

Re: WIP: '98 Safari Impreza WRC

Final update for the day. Got the Mica Blue layed down pretty well. There are some spots that aren't right because the can was almost dead when I was finishing up. So, I'll need to pick some up tomorrow and do a wet coat and hope it will even out.

Re: WIP: '98 Safari Impreza WRC

Nice work so far. Don't normally pay too much attention to non-F1 stuff but I am glad I did for the tip about giving the blue a silver base alone.

Be nice to the see the diorama as I have the 2002 206 WRC kit and a rally mechanics kit which I want to do soon... but I have just begun another F1.

Cheers,
BillyPee

Re: WIP: '98 Safari Impreza WRC

>_< I figured out why the pics weren't as good. Someone set the camera to "standard" sharpness instead of "sharp" I realised this after these three outdoor photos. Still haven't done any work today. Probably going to get roll cage and chassis painted, if not more.
