Don't think i'm gonna get what I want for the car, need advise

Alright, first I gotta tell you. I don't give an F what anybody says here, bone stock F Bodies suck ass handling wise. My former Evo would literally decimate any of my buddies with full on suspension upgrades on their car (adjustable shocks, struts, torque arm, parhard rod, sfc's, strut tower brace, etc...).

I need this car to be able to handle, cause quite frankly it is driving me nuts. It wallows into corners, and just flat out feels like a fat opera singer trying to pull off a break dancing move.

What type of suspension upgrades would you guys recommend? I can't lower the car, as I plan on boosting it with the STS kit, and the turbo will sit in the back, thus it will get damaged if it is lowered (Trust me I know, my buddy has the kit, and his car is lowered, sucker scrapes often). I already have the following suspension upgrades: panhard rod, strut tower brace and lower control arms.

Plans are to add the STS turbo sometime around next year, but to first work on the suspension.

Oh, and a good clutch option would help too, as i'll most likely be pushing 8psi when all is said and done.

Re: Don't think i'm gonna get what I want for the car, need advise

AWD is going to handle better then RWD stock for stock. You want it to handle...do the following and you'll have a corner carver. (BTW, I have a rearmount on the car too...)

1. Subframes(weld in kind are the best)*probably the best thing I ever did to my car)
2. Sway bars*
3. Poly tranny mount*
4. Torque Arm*
* should be able to do yourself and you can weld in the subframes if you have welding equipment.

Now, as far as shocks(keep the stock springs for ride height that you'll need with the STS kit) its up to you. I used the KYB AGX shocks on all 4 corners. fronts are set to "5" and rears to "4". Slightly stiffer then stock ride but handle bumps/road conditions great!

Also, tires are a HUGE difference!!!! HUGE. Make sure you have a good set on. I <3 my BFG g-Force tires.

Clutch...I have a Spec stage 4i. I have used a Stage 3. Make sure whoever installs it knows what they're doing. On LS1's stay AWAY from Centerforce. I'd also advise putting a new slave(GM 145) in and a new master cylinder.

With the STS kit, get the T67 upgrade. You will also need to purchase a fuel pump, 60# injectors and an OBX intercooler off ebay. Get some piping and couplers and put the intercooler on yourself. It will save you some cash also.

If you're in South FL, I can help you mod the car if you want. Everything but the subframes and torque arm I have done on my TA(I have subframes I didn't weld them in and torque arm is going on while its getting the engine/roll cage in).

If you need a place for parts, contract Robert, Jason or Able at Extreme Performance. (www.extremeperformance.org). They are in OKC, stand up guys and that is where my TA is at currently getting a new engine, roll cage and other things taken care of and I don't just let anyone touch my car. Just tell them Matt(darkblueta) told you about them and they'll take care of you.

Good luck and welcome to the world of Fbodies.

Re: Don't think i'm gonna get what I want for the car, need advise

I'll be going into Florida for the IT program the Navy is sending me too. Most likely i'll be there from September through December. Dunno if I can bring my car though. That's alot of miles to drive it, and I don't plan on moving it till I officially move out of state (To wherever they station me at). I do appreciate your offer though. I'm definitely going to have to consider the subframe connectors and the KYB's.

Re: Don't think i'm gonna get what I want for the car, need advise

It's not an adjustable panhard rod. I'm going to purchase the KYB's when I come back in December, and have some subframes ordered by then too. Already looking into the STS Turbo kit pricing wise. Just need to have a good 520whp, so I can keep up with those punks in modified 520whp 300ZXTT.

I hope you guys are right, and that this car can have potentially good handling, as that was the main reason I considered selling it.

Sometime in 2007 I should have everything together and in. I'm hoping to match or beat you Luos, atleast on the dyno, and with less cubes.

If I was sea level...I would be trapping 126 MPH this wednesday.

But since I am here...looking for 116-117.
