Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

Well, off the top of my head I want to say either the GSXR 1300 Hayabusa or the Ninja ZX-14R. Oh, and if you get either one of those and you dont have experience riding motorcycles (a lot of experience) you may want to get some life insurance and a casket because yes...you will kill yourself. I would highly reccomend you check out the motorcycle>street bike section and read up on some threads there and also look at the stickky thread about getting a motorcycle for the first time. Good luck.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

Yeah, the Hayabusa is the fastest production bike on the planet. And if it isnt fast enough stock, they make turbo kits for them which can put out over 400RWHP. Thats like a million HP per ton. Stock the bikes will run 8's....so yes, they are very fast. No, you should not get one. I would look at a Suzuki SV650S, a Ninja ZX6R, or a GSXR600. a 600CC bike will be plenty fast, and still kill most any car.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

^^ I'd still say no to those. Those 600 daytona bikes still run mid 10's! Start off with something to learn on at first (something below 300cc's) like a Ninja 250, etc. If you get one of these they have great resale value too. And I kid you not, if you get a really fast bike, you'll end up seriously hurting yourself (and possibly others) or causing your own fatality. Most people dont realize just how fast some of these bikes are. Take a car for instance. Even a fast 13 second car can brake much much faster than it can accelerate. Not so for those high end crotch rockets. You can take off so fast and then come time to brake.....and you cant do stop fast enough. Do some serious research first.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

yeah well i just turned 19 today and i want to go to msf (i think thats what it's called), i heard it's only 50 bucks. do i get a bike first or take the class first? also, one last question, is there a good motorcycle site, like cars.com except for bikes? just to research stuff like hp, mpg, price, just the specs of the bike.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

Well, first off I would check to see if they provide a test bike for you or if you need to provid your own. You may also want to ask them what type of bike you should get with your situation. If you want to find out the different specs on a bike just do a Google search and type in like CBR600RR specifications. You should get plenty of hits no matter the bike you your researching.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by fast bike. A begginner bike obviously isn't going to be as fast as the 600's on up because thats what makes it a begginner bike......not being as fast so that you dont end up dead. Go get a ninja 250cc. There only a few thousand $$ brand new. A used one would be even cheaper.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

i def. wouldn't start w/ a 600 bike, start small, work your way up. it might not even hurt to do a little dirt bike action before you get up there.

i've seen a wrecked CBR600RR that we used to build the FSAE car, the bike is too fast for anyone unexperienced, and the extra 100lbs we had worth of chassis for the competition car was plenty extra to give you a thrill.

Start small, work your way up. It's the same way with cars, if you start w/ a 600whp cobra, you aren't going to learn the basics of turning before you want to go drifting and kill yourself, i'd hate to see you get in over your head

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

yeah, I guess the only reason I didnt mention a 250 was because Im 6'5" tall, and I had to at least look at a 600 to even fit on one. The Ninja 250 is still pretty quick, i think it does 0-60 in under 6, so for a tiny bike it can go.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

OK here ya go. I love motocycles and my first bike that I bought was a Ninga 250. It was a great bike to learn on, had plenty of power and was fun to ride. I thought it was fast as hell. But I have never been on anything else at that point in time. When I sold it after a year of getting experience I went to a GSXR750 Suz. I was like HOLLY S*&% I am going to die. I probably took me another year to get used to this bike. This bike is very very very fast. Probably faster then it needs to be. I couldn't imagine riding a 1400 or something as fast. I don't have a bike anymore but I am planning on getting a Harley next. See I am 36 and I have outgrown the crotch rocket stage in my life. Now I want comfort and noise...lol Have fun and be carefull.

Re: can i ask a motorcycle question???

nope i think its a street bike

a friend of mine had a blue one

I would also suggest getting VERY GOOD jacket and helmet. My friend did, and had a couple times where he fell off his bike while on the interstate and the only marks on him were on his knees where there was no jacket. The jacket i would have to say was absolutely amazing and probably saved his arms more than once!!!

Safety is never a bad investment.
