how do you tell if your supercharger is working? also what is the difference between the sse and the ssei

If you're supercharger is working, the front wheels will spin in first gear at any speed between 0 and 25 mph. Also, the boost gage shows you if the supercharger is working. It should nearly peg with the throttle wide open in any gear.

The only difference between the SSE and SSEi is the supercharged engine, HD trans., and lower rear axle ratio.

If you dont have a bosst gauge then you probably dont have a SC.What year is your car

92 bonneville sse i see the supercharger under the hood but no boost gauge

SSEI is supercharged , SSE is not did you just buy this unless someone put in a new engine or something

mmmmm dam ima have to look under the hood cuz i just bought a starter for the supercharged bonneville and i already put it on there.

the sse was offered with a supercharger i bought one with 15 miles on it in 92 stock with a supercharger from a pontiac dealer and mine didn't have a boost gauge either but you can buy triple gauge pods at summit.com and put a boost gauge in yourself

I agree. The '92 SSE was available with the Series I 3800 V6 supercharged "Vin 1". The 8th digit of the VIN number will have a "1".

As mentioned by the previous poster you can get an aftermarket boost gauge like an Autometer Phantom for under $40 which will tap into an engine vacuum source such as to the MAP sensor.

ok if your engine bay looks like this...

Then you have a supercharger...
if it looks like this... w/ out the intake of course..

then you don't have a supercharger...
simple as that and yes some sse's did come w/ superchargers

also if you wanna know where the boost gauge is - - if you have one it is located here...
