RHCP - Stadium Arcadium

Good god, what an amazing album. This is the kind of new material I've been waiting for since Californication. In fact, it's a pretty good blend of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication. It has the intensity and funky-ness in BSSM, but with the great production and writing in Californication.

And man, this album is LONG. It's a solid two disc set, an hour each, 28 songs long, with every song at least longer than three and a half minutes. I admit, a few of the songs aren't as strong as others, but there are some real highlights here. Snow and She's Only 18 are some of the best in the RHCP's history, and the single, Dani California, isn't bad either.

Well worth the $20 when it comes out.

Re: RHCP - Stadium Arcadium

yeah, i heard a lot of songs they debuted on the radio, besides their singles. i like it a lot more than By The Way. They had made 38 songs in total, and their plan was only 11 or 12, but decided to make a dual disc with 28, so look out for the other 10 on B-sides sometime soon.

Re: RHCP - Stadium Arcadium

I dunno - I've listened to it a couple of times through and I thought it was average at best, and very poor at worst. All the best songs off it are already being flogged to death on the radio.

I'm not convinced.

Re: RHCP - Stadium Arcadium

Why do they always sing about nothing other than California? It gets sort of annoying.

the same reason Beastie Boys sing about NYC, cuz that's where they're from, that's where their life has been, will be, and that's what they're singin' about.
i like So.Cal. rock. i don't get tired of it, just the sound is chill and laid back.

See, i was reluctant to switch to the radio, and that's when i heard those debuts, but after that, it's been back playing CD's again. the very reason you just stated is why i hate the radio nowadays.

Re: RHCP - Stadium Arcadium

I absolutely love the new album(s), but I wish it sounded more like BSSM than Californication, which I didn't like AT ALL. Every sincle song on the Jupiter CD is amazing, and Mars is so-so with some big highlights (Storm in a Teacup, for example). I also love The Who reference where everyone is standing in football helmets. Also, Jupiter is upside-down, and isn't blue...

It still isn't their best album, but is nearing closer:

1.) Blood Sugar Sex Magik
=2.) The Uplift Mofo Party Plan
=2.) Freakey Styley
4.) Stadium Arcadium

...7.) Californication

Really? Where does Mother's Milk fit in there?

I've listened to the entire album probably 30 times now, and I really think it is their best work. Sure, it's nothing progressive or new, but it's the most solid recording from them, ever. The range of the songs is staggering really. You've got the funky Hump De Bump and Warlocks, heavy rock with Readymade and Storm In A Teacup, those amazing ballad like songs with Slow Cheetah and If, and just all around sick songs like Especially in Michigan, Hard to Concentrate, So Much I, and Turn it Again.

The whole album just has this very familiar feel to it. Like you've been listening to these songs since Uplift and BSSM.
