Bad day for a transmission

So today im just driving down my street (about 4 blocks from my house) and my car just started jerking (like someone other than me was hitting the brakes) and then the tires just locked up. There was no grinding noise or any sound what so ever. I tried to give it a little gas and it wouldn't budge. I figured it was my tranny so i dropped it in neutral and pushed it to the side of the road. There was no fluid in the street or under my car and i know that it wasnt leaking in my driveway before i left. Anyways i checked the fluid level and there was barely any at all. I check my fluid about once every month. So now my car is parked down the street going nowhere fast. My buddy thinks its my valve body. I think the tranny is shot now. Any suggestions on what my options are would help out big time.

P.S. its a 98 gtp 89000 miles. Just had the fluid and filter changed. (not flushed)

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct. The tranny has locked up. I would contact Ed Morad at Moradpartscompany.com. He can get you a use transmission at a reasonable cost. It will probably be cheaper to replace it than to repair the one you have. One question though, did the engine stall or keep running? Just trying to determine if this is an issue with the engine or not.

Re: Bad day for a transmission

make sure that the shop you had do your fluid flush filled the trans. cause a no-fluid or incorrect fluid problem could cause tranny failure

also if the guy that changed the filter installed it incorrectly, it could cause problems
