Hi,
I have a 73 El Camino with a 350 4 barrel carb engine I have rebuilt. When I hit the gas to take off the engine has started to bog down badly and take off slowly. If I'm already driving and up to about 30mph and hit the gas it does fine. Does this sound like a problem with my carb maybe? Should it be adjusted?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Porkchop |

Re: Carb Question 73 El Camino
Is the carb a vaccuum secondary model? It could be that the secondary spring is too light and is opening up too soon. You can buy a spring kit (pretty cheap) that gives you an assortment of springs. Try the stiffest spring and see if that fixes the problem. If it does you can keep moving to a lighter spring until it starts to bog again, then just go back to the last spring used before the bog returned. Hope this fixes it for ya.
