93 Tempo Transmission
I am about to replace an automatic transmission in a 93 Ford Tempo. The manual I just bought says I have to drop the engine and tranny together out the bottom. Is there an easier way? I was planning on just dropping the tranny out the bottom like you do on most cars.
Thanks. |

Re: 93 Tempo Transmission
3spd if I remember correctly. Let's see, the 2.3L if I remember correctly has to be dropped with the tranny, I am not sure about 3.0L.

Re: 93 Tempo Transmission
Thanks for the reply. This car does have the 2.3 engine. I took the car out for a drive and the gears seem to work ok, but the car does not shift by it's self. It just stays in high gear unless you shift down with the shifter. Does anyone know what controls the shifting on this transmission? I would rather fix the problem if I can than have to pull out the whole engine and transmission.
Thanks. |

Re: 93 Tempo Transmission
Hi, boomboom, I hope I caught you in time....Before you pull the trans, Do yourself a big favor and check the GOVENOR, It controlls the up and down shifting of the 3 speed ATX trans, Also check the throttle pressure cable to see if it's loose, broken or misadjusted...GOOD LUCK....Clay...
