Instruments out
Driving to the store today I noticed my guages weren't working. I blew the 20A Inst/Ign fuse. I got another and replaced it hoping it was a fluke but when I started it, the brake light stayed on. I can press the Ebrake and it become brighter. Weird, I thought. Well, the other fuse blew after driving for 10 mins.
Any ideas where to begin checking for a short????? It's an 89 4.3 2wd longbed. Oh, after it blew the 2nd fuse, I put in another and can hear the alternater kinda whining but the voltmeter is about 13v. I haven't added or touched anything in a while so i don't think it's anything I've done. |

Re: Instruments out
there are 3 levels of intencity on the break light, the e break being the brightest... theres either a code concerning the break or low fluid level... the wiring i would say is a chaffed wire that need tracked down

Re: Instruments out
After one day of popping fuses, today my alternator died. Maybe it was spiking before it's death. I don't know. Replaced it and seems fine now. The voltmeter (dash) shows about 13v but I've still gotta check it with a multimemter. It's kind of weird since the one that died was only about 6 months old. I'm hoping it was just a bad one and not a short somewhere. I'm going to look around closer this weekend at the wiring and try and clean up all grounds.
