Sputtering at idle

Greetings,

This problem just started yesterday. Both days were extremely humid in the morning. On my way to work, the car would spit and sputter when idle and hesitate as I started to move, once moving it seemed ok. It did this most of the way to work (for about 15 minutes) then it was ok. On the way home yesterday, it was fine the whole trip. It did exactly the same thing this morning. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the humidity as both mornings were like this. Any info is appreciated.

2001 Grand Am SE1 (V6)

EDIT: about 120,000KM (72,000 Miles)

Re: Sputtering at idle

Well I bumped in to a buddy who happens to be a mechanic in his free time. He told me most likely I had some water in the tank and to put in some fuel line anti-freeze which would absorb the water. Seems to have done the trick. Feels like the car has more power now too, bonus. Thought I would post in case anyone else runs in to this.

Re: Sputtering at idle

It turns out I spoke too soon, it happened again the next time a damp morning came around. It must have something to do with condensation, but I suppose I'll have to have someone look at it. In the meantime if anyone has any idea what it might be, the info would be appreciated.

Thumbs up Re: Sputtering at idle

If the plug wires are over 3 years old.....they could be breaking down when the the humidity is high or on rainy days.....

Just a note.....Never use HIGH pressure water...( in Car Washes) to clean the engine...I work for a company that make "under the hood" electrical connectors for the auto industry.....yes they are sealed......but nothing is defect free anymore!!!!
