Re: Casino Royale trailer

Nov. 17th. They have a lot of time to finish it and/or edit. So maybe it won't suck as bad as everybody thinks it will.

Re: Casino Royale trailer

Looks pretty cool. Its kinda weird that the new James Bond is going with Judy Dench (M) without old Pierce in the picture.

Re: Casino Royale trailer

Ah man, I was watching the first 30 seconds and it looked like the whole film was going to be shot in black and white. I thought they were going to take Bond in a completely different direction than the previous few, making it more of a film noir type movie. But then the color comes in and it looks like another action-fueled Bond flick. Ah well, one can dream.

Re: Casino Royale trailer

I didn't like Batman Begins...

But he's not James Bond! The movie sure, looks good, but him being called Bond just doesn't work.

Re: Casino Royale trailer

Well I guess this is really getting Bond back to his roots. In the Ian Fleming books he was a much grittier, hardened personality than the very smooth and sophisticated movie character that they developed with Sean Connery and carried forward. It's going to be a big change and it won't be like other Bond films but that doesn't mean it can't be good at all.

Apparently it's gone this way because Sony didn't want to pay what Pierce Brosnan wanted for another Bond picture. I can see that Sony has to watch it's overhead but really, a Bond picture with the established Brosnan would have been a sure bet to profit big no matter how much they dumped into it. Then again the last one, Die Another Day, did kind of suck. But I attribute that mostly to Hally Berry's craptacular acting and a lousy script in that one.

Eh, wait til it comes out and we shall see.

Re: Casino Royale trailer

back to his roots?
y'know, that brings me to something that i've always wanted to see.
what was bond like when he first started this job?
he's a naval commander right? which means somewhere along the lines he must've had active naval duty. I would like to see an origin film of some-sort showing his transition from normal military guy into the beginnings of a 00 agent.

thing is, from the little that i've seen and heard about this one, i've never really figured out if this is kinda what they're doing or not. It's supposed to explain some of the things behind bond's character but er... it's Judy dench as M so chronologically, that means it's not a prequel story.....
