Wheel Bearings 98 Intrigue

Went to the stealership and I need new wheel assemblies up front. The manager strongly recommended GM Parts. He said aftermarket sensors aren't as good. What do you think? I can get AC Delco at rockauto.com for 200 and aftermarket at autozone for 130. Let me know, thanks.

Re: Wheel Bearings 98 Intrigue

I think this is strictly your call and may depend on how long you plan to keep the car. Personally, I would save myself $70 and get the aftermarket. I need more proof then a GM employee telling me that the GM part is better than the aftermarket part esp. if the aftermarket company is reputable. But then again, I would not go to a dealer to get this part changed and woudl use an independent and go with their recommendation.

Thanks. I plan on doing the bearings myself eventually. I will most likely go with NAPA on the parts. Dealer wanted 750 for parts and labor. Monro Muffler wanted 950 for Timkin bearings. I'll keep poking around. Thanks for the reply. PRS

Re: Wheel Bearings 98 Intrigue

If you buy the aftermarket bearings make sure you get bearings made in the USA. The bearings in the white boxes don't hold up. NAPA should sell good quality bearings so I would stick with them for now. BCA also makes a good bearing/hub assembly for GM cars. As far as I am concerned Monro Muffler can pound sand at that price. Where they selling all four with installation?

The 950 from Monro was all inclusive.

Try Advance Auto Parts, $108 for the fronts and $88 for the rear. I'd go with the cheap ones, especially for a '98 model year.
