I was just wondering how many of you take shit from your friends cause your fixing up a 4g civic? My friends all think I'm crazy and tell me that I should just buy a new car for all the money I'm going to be putting into mine, and that it's gonna die on me before I'm done with it. None of them drive Honda's, so they have no idea how much fun it is to zip around in a little four-banger that gets 30 mpg when they mostly drive American v-6's that are lucky to get 20 mpg, and will die long before they hit 150,000 miles.

Lol, ever since i became a honda mechanic, i've converted most of my family and several friends and thier girlfriends too. If someone gives you a hard time about it...race them once...lol

Nah, none of my friends really bag on me about my civic (cuz it's lookin' really nice now), but there's a few people I work with that talk shit about it... They don't quite make a distinction between rice and a tuner. And usually, they're the type of people that will only drive fords/chevy's, etc... They're just jeaulous hahaha

gunmen01 I've tried to convert them but it isn't working for me. And as for racing them, so far the only aftermarket parts my car has is a short shifter, monster tach, and spark plug wires, so that 92 or so hp I'm pumping out won't beat too many people. Oh well, more hp will come with time and money.

Not really, my car can out handle any of my friends cars, but it's probably slower. But I mean at least it's good at one thing.

you guys have no idea. i wish you could drive a day in my life. but it's not my friends. it's every damn kid in any car, any time. i can't even go 2 blocks up the street to the store. because i am female...it is assumed that i roll my man's car...NO RESPECT. the sad thing? if my man rolls the car...the same people who challange me...literally run from him.

i used to live on a well traveled residental street. so everybody knew where i lived from my car being parked outside. if i didn't race these guys...they would circle my house at all hours of the night acting stupid peeling out and reeving...they would also do it if i raced and won. damned if i do, damned if i don't. said to say, but we moved.

the thing that burnes me the most is, i'm 25. been there and done that. i was out with my friends racing the streets & tracks of L.A. 7+ yrs ago. do the math. most of them weren't even in jr high when i was taking apart & modding my car. and i get disrespected right and left by these clueless kids...because i'm a girl!

I can't really comment on the female thing Ami, but everytime some guy drives by me in a hooked up newer car that mommy and daddy paid for they stare at me and rev the engine just cause I'm rollin around in a 4g 4 door thats nuclear banana yellow and has a monster tach. Personally when someone is revving their engine next to me at a stop light I rev mine and than take off in second gear when the light changes, hoping that a cop will see them go flying off and pull them over.

People can't figure out why I use a 13 year old car as my weapon of choice. At the autocross its easily one of the faster older cars out there, along with other old 4th gens. On the street well its no drag racer, but i've messed up several newer cars with punk ass drivers many times in my car. When most anyone picks my car apart (most my friends love my car so they don't count hehe) but I usally easily pick several reasons why my car is just better than their car, i've even done this to my parents early on but now they understand why I like my little go-kart so much hehe. I don't have a ego about it, no need to in my eyes I know what i can do in my car. I love when kids in newer cars come up to me and say "so whos car do you think is faster??" I always reply "yours in a straight line" that freaks them out for several minuets hehe.

Its a mixed bag for me, my girl is very supportive and shows an interest in learning about the stuff I'm doing to my car. Her little sister is already asking about what swaps she can do for such and such car, etc...

My younger brother has a 7th gen civic and he thinks the money I spend is wasted on my 12 year old car. Nothing against newer civics, I'd take a 4th gen over a 7th anyday...

My parents are clueless - just the other day my mom noticed my new rims. Uh yeah mom, I got those 4 months ago!

When i first got the car and it was 100% stock i got bugged.
i told them to shut up and wait..

my friends only tease me because they dont like the look of it. they think the newer hatchs look better, they dont really care that its old. granted most of my friends drive 92-95 civics, preludes, integras. but ill show them when i get my motor swap.

Most people I know are cool except for my friend with a 94 GS-R. And the problem is, there is no way I can shut that dumbass up cause his car will probably always be faster.

Also a lot of people bag on me cause I got the sedan instead of a hatch or CRX

I get alot of respect from my "car" friends. Most say because my 90 is Cleaner then there 98+ Cars haha

The people at work bust on me though. They all think I drive a station wagon that makes funny sounds "Turbo hehe"
