Re: Lawsuit

I read through that site, and its a Canadian Lawsuit on the Lower intake gaskets blowing out on the V6's(3.4L).

My Se has had 6-7 replaced, and twice it had the gaskets that the GM TSB recomended with the metal rings in the gaskets to help from blow outs.
I Dont think it does us any good here in the US

If they want to give us some cash back, Hell YA !!!

Re: Lawsuit

go to this site...www.classproceedings.ca. Download the questionaire (.pdf) and mail/fax it into them

The claim alleges that the defendants manufactured, in the 1995-2003 model years, motor vehicles with a defective intake manifold gasket (IMG).
The IMG regulates the flow of air and fuel into the cylinder. The allegation is that the IMG degrades prematurely causing coolant to leak into the engine. In particular, the plastic used to manufacture the IMG facilitated corrosion because it permitted leakage from the coolant system. The IMG did not properly seal the engine, causing leaks to occur. Among other consequences, the coolant mixes with engine oil making the oil ineffective and damaging the engine. In some cases engines overheat and seize completely creating a danger to the operator and occupants and which means the vehicles need complete engine replacements.
The claim, therefore, is based on negligence, including the failure to warn the class of the problems and to rectify the problems. The damages are difficult to assess but a claim has been made for restitution of the defendants' savings, which are estimated to be about $1,200,000,000 in Canada alone

unfortuantely it is only in CANADA.

Re: Lawsuit

basically if you have a GM car in between those years afected by a head gasket problem, someone somewhere is alleging that GM knew about this problemn and did nothing to fix it (recall)...and now that so many people are affected by this(including me)...I think I was told by many people that GM cars are famous for the intake Gasket to go, I personally know three people who had the head gasket go on their cars

Re: Lawsuit

YA 3.4s are prone to leak at the LIM gasket. There is a fix, dont use the plastic gaskets. Gm has a TSB for this and the new ones hav metal on the gaskets instead of plastic.

Granted Gm or someone at Gm had to know this was an issue, but because its a discontinued model, GooD F***ing Luck!
Most likly The only ones who will get anything is the ones who lost thier engines because of the leak, and possibly the ones who hav had numerous LIM failures after the TSB was published

I've replaced several on my 99' SE, and hundreds on others pontiacs
