Steering Damper Removal UGH!
I thought this was going to be easy. I have used a 2 jaw puller. I have heated the bolt . I have soaked the bolt with PBBlaster. I have tapped the link with a hammer near the bolt. I have never had a bolt so difficult to remove. If I didn't know the bolt was cone shaped, I would swear it is threaded or something. Is there anyone out there who has had this much trouble with that bolt. Tell me what you did to remedy the situation. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank You Max

Re: Steering Damper Removal UGH!
Hope this posts ok the forum is VERRRRY slow the last few days and sometimes doesn't load for me......
PB blaster or any penetrating oil will not help at all. The taper of the stud is what is locking it in place. What the stud need is a shock from the side of the tie rod it goes thru. use two hammers - a larger one sitting on the link above the stud to support the blow you are going to give it from below. It's not that easy to do but it works best if the two jaw puller is pushing hard on the stud while you strike it. Leave the nut threaded on the stud by a couple of threads so it doesn't fall out on you. The blow that loosens the stud will have been hard enough to deform the hole the stud sits in and that will release it. Good luck and never use force --- use a bigger hammer for stuff like this .JD
