2003 Silverado 1500 - Just Bought. Has Engine Noise. Please Help!

I just bought it yesterday. 26,000 miles. There is a small ticking/pinging noise coming from around the alternator area. It only does it when going up hills, light accelaration and I can repro the noise by holding the brake and giving a little gas. It sounds somewhat like a diesel or a loud ping. The dealer is going to look at it, but i'm not confident that they are going to take care of it. It's out of warranty.

Any ideas? Could it be major? Should I loose sleep? lol

Thanks for the help...

Update: I dropped it off at the dealer. They found that the Timing Chain Tensioner needs to be replaced. There is a tech bulletin on this. They are paying %100 of the cost even though its out of warranty

Whoo Hoo!
