740iL Rear Speaker Problem

93 740iL

Sound system incl. remote CD changer is operating fine with one problem.

No sound comes from the larger rear speakers (8 ohm). When the fader control is set to 100% rear, there is sound from the very small rear speakers, but nothing form the larger ones. The speakers and wiring have been inspected and appear fine. The front speakers operate fine.

I wonder if there is a dedicated power supply or amplifier for these rear speakers that is not functioning?

Thanks

Re: 740iL Rear Speaker Problem

In 92, options and equipment changed a bit for the 7.

If you have an amplifier for your speakers, it would be in the rear trunk/boot on the left hand side behind the panelling.

Aside from that, the power runs off the headunit. Take a continuity tester and test the ends of the speaker wires and see if it beeps. Remember, for each two speakers, the positive share one end on the head unit...
