check eng ligth comes on when hill climing

i was out mudding today and climed a 300 feet mud slick hill so steep even with mud tires i barely got to the top....now at the same time the check eng ligth when on
then 50 miles later it turned off but i still smell a burning oil smell who knows where from i checked all fluids they are okay...

This isn't going to really help you, but my buddys dakota R/T 5.9, when he gets on it really really hard for a good 5-10 min his check engine like pops on and goes off, when he settles down. It may be just a code saying ur pushing it to hard. The one day the light poped on i hooked it up to my scanner, and it said it was an 02 sensor but once it cooled down it went away

Did you have the code pulled? The SES can be set off over a million things. Got to advance or autozone and have the code pulled. It should be stored even thouugh the SES is out. Aftr you have it pulled we can then help you.
