LS1 Vs Geo Metro!

So I got my headers installed a few days ago and I was enjoying the nice deep tone. It was a nice day today so I was just cruising around with the tops off and windows down, letting the cool air hit my face. So I'm going down part of the in-town highway. I get stuck at a stop light next to a Geo Metro.

I casually glance over and see a somewhat attractive female driving that sweet machine. She is staring at my car (or maybe even me). I smile and give her a loud rev. She laughs and revs her Metro back at me.

We sit there laughing until the light turns green. I take off at about 1/4 throttle and acclerate somewhat quickly up to 60, where I had her by 8 cars. Not sure if she was really racing, but something tells me it wouldn't have made much of a difference if she was.

Anyways, yeah, I'm the man.

Yeah, but I know if I did that I would have bogged the launch and snapped my rear end.

Re: LS1 Vs Geo Metro!

Bad ass bro! i love these type of stories.

hey quick question since your one of the few dudes around here that know his V8s. Do the headers affect your low end? Ive done alot of exhaust work on small 4cyls and V6s and the dyno graphs ive looked at in some cases will add a few ponies up top but drop the low end torque and HP. like my 3000GT lost 5hp from 0-4200 rpms with the cat-back and with the race pipe lost 5 more from 1200-5000 rpms. so since ive never done headers Im curious how bad it drops early on or if not at all.

Longtubes actually give you more torque and power in the low end (atleast on the LS1). The collectors on the longtubes result in a better scaveneging affect which gives you better power through-out the curve.

Yeah no problem. Longtubes are definitely worth the price. Especially if you do the install yourself. It took me a total of 6 hours to get these damn things on.
