Question 2002 town country awd - front end noise

Hi all!,

I just bought a 2002 T&C Limited AWD. I have owned a few T&C's over the years and have enjoyed them. The last one I owned had over 150K! and ran just fine. Heres are my questions with the 2002.

1) When I hit bumps there is a noise (like a knock) in the front end. I just had the van inspected and the components of the front end are tight. My mechanic said I should bring it to my local chrysler dealer to have it checked. Any clue as to what might be causing the knock?

2) When accelerating there is a "whooshing" noise (almost sounds like a turbo charger). The transmission was replaced recently. ?

3) The front end shudders when you turn the wheel while standing still.

Hope there is a T&C magicain with the tricks to fix!

Thanks

Re: 2002 town country awd - front end noise

As far as the knocking sound goes, I had the same problem on a 2002 dodge Grand caravan and it ended up being the End Links, they say the original End links are a poor design and they have new ones out, when I took it to a shop they said all is well, the dealer is who identified the End links......Hope this helps

The knocking sound is probably the sway bar links. If you turn the steering wheel to the pint where th elink is visible pull on the link. If you feel movement the link needs to be replaced. Vet bothersome part. As for the whoosh and shudder, sounds like the power steering pump may be on the way out.
