Seal replacement on auto tranny
have an extremely sloooowww leak of tranny fluid in the seal below the shifter on the transmission. Leak is right above the range mode sensor thingamojig.
Anyone know how to replace this seal? Minor job or does the tranny have to be dropped?

Re: Seal replacement on auto tranny
Do you have one of these?
http://www.handsontools.com/store/sh...uct_id=6043724 Since you apparently have the "longer shaft" (1995-later models, or just a rumor) you need the "PV" suffix version of this tool. This one might be the same: http://www.etoolcart.com/browseprodu...er-T-1001.HTML Judging by the size of the puller screw, it appears you may have space to accomplish it without an R&R of the trans. That would be worth the forty bucks alone. If you are pursuasive, you might even be able to borrow/rent one from your local Isuzu/Honda/BMW/GM dealer for your Hydramatic. Good luck. It might be worth throwing a few bucks in refreshment money at the Techs to be able to "look at one" for about an hour. |
